Gateway Ventures  is a real estate investment and development firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. While its history and recent work has roots in sophisticated public/private partnerships and university developments, the firm has extended its reach to mixed-use projects in urban and strategic suburban markets. Related service offerings include brokerage, consulting, asset management, and property management. Gateway Ventures seeks to create lasting value in its real estate holdings by developing quality mixed use projects in emerging markets and, in so doing, investing in and improving the communities in which it serves.

Mack Reese

As Managing Partner of Gateway Ventures, Mack Reese brings 35+ years of residential and commercial real estate expertise developing over 3,000,000 square feet of office, research, retail, and multi-family projects with a diversity of financing and ownership structures; including taxable and tax-exempt bond financing structures, traditional construction financing with internal and limited partnership equity and term bank loans, and permanent financing via insurance companies and CMBS structures. As developer and investor, Reese has initiated thoughtfully designed and uniquely financed, pioneering urban developments; including Technology Square in Atlanta where he and his partners developed one million square feet of office, research, residential and retail space adjacent to Georgia Tech’s campus and, most recently, the WestEdge project in Charleston where he and his partners have over 1 million square feet of mixed use space currently under construction. Reese graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, followed by a Master of Science in Management. A member of the Georgia Tech Track & Field Team, he was a scholarship athlete as both an undergraduate and graduate student. He is involved in various organizations, including the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, First United Methodist Church Foundation and the Planning Commission of the City of LaGrange, GA. Mack resides in LaGrange with his wife Holly and three children; Jordan, Mack, Jr. and Robert.

Matt Mason

Gateway Ventures partner Matt Mason brings 10+ years of experience in multi-family (condominium and rental), hotel, restaurant/retail and structured parking. Using his analytical problem-solving skills, Mason leverages a diligent, task-oriented work ethic and engineering aptitude to structure project financing (both construction and permanent), acquisitions and dispositions. Mason spent 7 years at Legacy Property Group, where he served as a member of the company’s executive leadership team, and held responsibility for pre-development, project management, asset management, and property operations for retail, restaurant and parking. His vast experience with parking operations brings an invaluable skill to Gateway’s mixed-use projects that require shared parking agreements necessary to minimize costs for all project components. Mason began his career as a management consultant for Ernst and Young and later joined Novare Group. He earned an Industrial Engineering degree at Georgia Tech in 2001 and an MBA at Emory’s Goizueta Business School in 2007. Mason is the prior Chair of Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership, a former member of the ULI Atlanta Management Committee and is a licensed real estate broker in Georgia and South Carolina.
